As with every season of the Freeride World Tour (FWT), the grand finale, Verbier Xtreme, happens on Verbier’s infamous and mighty face called the Bec des Rosses. Xavier de Le Rue, a Verbier resident and one of our co-founders, holds the record for the most wins on this snowy and rocky playground. So since we have a friendly connection to Verbier and the FWT we decided to send a few of our guys to the event to push Hexo+ in challenging weather and terrain conditions. The weekend included flying over the Swiss Alps and demo-ing the drone for media, athletes, and spectators. And we even got to lend a Hexo+ to the FWT to get some course shots, a feat normally reserved for helicopters. Here is a little write up our experience onsite at Verbier with Hexo+.
We didn’t get to fly Hexo+ on the day of the comp but Xavier did some runs on the Bec des Rosses for Red Bull Media House. Here is the footage he captured with the drone. If Hexo+ worked this well for him in the most exposed and challenging conditions, and riding full speed, just imagine what you would be capable of capturing for yourself 🙂
A day prior the competition, we provided a Hexo+ to Martin “Mc Fly” Winkler who works on the tour and provides the GoPro First Look course preview for each stop. Hexo+ was the perfect tool to document the face and give riders critical information on the course venue since they are not permitted to ride the face before their run. Here is the video for you to check.
Later on that day, we invited media attending the tour to discover Hexo+, and get some footage from Hexo+’s 360 selfie, fly away and follow me movements on an easy slope. They got some cool footage from their stay at the resort!
As always, when people see Hexo+ in action, they still still can’t believe they can fly a drone that films themselves (by themselves!) with just a smartphone. Enjoy the view from Verbier and see how people reacted to their first Hexo+ experience.
