Despite being fairly active as an outdoor enthusiast, I’ve never really seen the business side of that industry, unlike some others on the Hexo+ team: Xavier of course but also Matthieu and Sylvain. I had previously heard of ISPO but had never made it there until now. With Hexo+ winning the ISPO BRANDNEW award in the accessories category, we were offered a booth in a prime spot of the tradeshow, together with all the other cool cats and I got to experience the madness first hand.
What’s ISPO then? On paper, it’s the world’s largest tradeshow for action sports and outdoor gear, happening in Munich, Germany. All the largest brands and trend setters come together to introduce their new collection, new products, new ideas, that will make the headlines and hit the shelves next year. In reality, well, I’ve attended many professional tradeshows and I have to admit I was very impressed by the fun and awesomeness the action sports and outdoor lifestyle put together.
Our Hexo+ booth was located in Hall A1 together with the action sports industry. Around us in the BRANDNEW village, innovative products that had been selected and identified as the best 50 start ups and put in the spotlight. In between bike lock, merino wool and life tracking ear buds, it gave us the chance to present Hexo+ to some of you backers, and also the industry and we saw stars in people’s eyes, from world top riders to video makers and journalists. It seems like Hexo+ generates a lot of creative thinking and a whole new range of angles that people thought were inaccessible before.
We got the chance to meet with some of our ambassadors like Ralph Backstrom, show off the latest design to our backers (Markus, Benjamin, Fred, etc.) and witness their excitement about receiving Hexo+ this summer, which was absolutely awesome. Their very positive reactions to the concept, design, the app and its different camera movement are fueling our motivation to keep innovating in the field of autonomous aerial filming.
It’s always a blast to meet with your customers and hear what they have to say in real life. It keeps us grounded and helps pushing forward. ISPO was perfect in that regard. See you next year!
